CLE ELUM, Wash. - In their third-straight NCAA Regional appearance, the Old Dominion women's golf team took 14th on Wednesday afternoon. The Monarchs 54-hole total of 895 marks a program record at an NCAA Regional, where previously ODU scored a 905 in the 2018 Regional.

"It's been another incredible year," said head coach Mallory Hetzel. "I couldn't be more proud of all we have accomplished. A special thank you to our seniors. Abby has always been reliable and Sana and Charlotte are responsible for getting us to three straight NCAA's. We have a saying in our program that you will leave ODU with a degree and a championship. So far we are three-for-three and a ton of records too."

Seniors Charlotte De Corte, Sana Tufail and Abigail Portyrata closed out their collegiate careers on Wednesday afternoon. De Corte posted a one-over 73, while Portyrata carded a 74 and Tufail a 77. De Corte closed out her college campaign with a career-best season stroke average. Her 72.9 stroke average is tied for the best on the team this season along with Jana Melichova. The Belgium native was a member of the C-USA First Team All-Conference and notched four top-10 finishes in the 2018-19 season, highlighted by a third place finish at the 2019 C-USA Championships. Tufail and Portyrata both finished their senior campaigns with a 73.7 stroke average. Tufail finished her career as a two-time C-USA All-Academic member as well as a member of the C-USA Third Team All-Conference. All three senior Monarchs competed in each event for ODU this year.

Melichova posted the best Monarch round of the day with a two-under 70. She earned three birdies and just one bogey on Wednesday. The C-USA Freshman of the Year finished the 2018-19 season with a 72.9 stroke average, which is tied for best on the team with De Corte. Leah Onosato finished in a tie for 69th after closing the tournament with a four-over 76. After joining the Monarchs in January, Onosato closed the year out with a 73.9 stroke average.

Mallory Hetzel returns two of the five starters from the NCAA Regional in Jana Melichova and Leah Onosato. Both freshman are members of the Second Team All-Conference.

"Our future is very bright and we are already looking forward to next year."
