NORFOLK, Va. -- It was a banner night for Old Dominion offensively and the Monarchs ran away from Louisiana Tech, 14-6, in the series opener on Friday evening at the Bud Metheny Complex.

Old Dominion (28-17, 10-12) cranked out a season-high 19 hits, including four of the game's six home runs.

LA Tech (28-18, 12-10) actually led 6-5 heading into the bottom half of the seventh inning, but an Andy Garriola go-ahead, three-run bomb ignited a nine-run frame for the Monarchs. Garriola finished the night 3-for-4 with five RBIs.

Jared Hancock also hit a three-run home run, the first of his career, in the seventh. Hancock had four RBIs.

Joining Garriola and Hancock in the home run category were Tommy Bell, who went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Bryce Windham, who went 4-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs.
