BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Old Dominion was outlasted in 12 innings by UAB, 6-5, in the series opener on Friday evening at Young Memorial Field by Birmingham.
ODU (16-13, 1-9) rallied from an early 5-2 deficit to tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh inning. That score would hold until the 12th inning, when UAB's (14-17, 2-8) Ian Ladner delivered the game-winning RBI single with bases loaded and no outs.
The Monarch bullpen, after starter Nick Pantos went 3.2 innings, tossed 7+ innings without allowing an earned run before UAB's run in the 12th.

Game two is tomorrow at a moved-up time of 3 p.m. ET. Ryne Moore (4-2, 3.92 ERA) takes the hill against UAB's Tanner Rusk (1-1, 2.70 ERA).
