BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Old Dominion heads to Birmingham this weekend for an important Conference USA series at UAB at Jerry D. Young Memorial Field.
First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Coverage includes 1310 The Power, featuring commentary from Doug Ripley and Tim Wentz, and CUSA.tv.
ODU and UAB have both had slow starts to league play and are tied, at 1-8, for last in the C-USA standings.
Last weekend, the Monarchs were swept at home by Rice and the Blazers were swept on the road at Louisiana Tech.
Old Dominion is hitting .273 as a team, the same as UAB, while the Monarchs own a 4.34 ERA and and the Blazers have a 5.37 ERA.
Nick Pantos (3-1, 2.63 ERA), on Friday, and Ryne Moore (4-2, 3.95 ERA), on Saturday, headline ODU's rotation. Sunday's starter is to be determined.
Offensively, Bryce Windham (.368, 1 HR, 12 RBI) continues to lead the Monarchs in hitting. True freshman Andy Garriola (.313, 4 HR, 23 RBI) leads the team in both home runs and RBIs, while Vinnie Pasquantino (.273, 3 HR, 20 RBI) ranks second in those categories.
ODU is 3-5 on the road this season. The Monarchs are 3-2 in one-run games, while UAB is 1-8.

The Blazers enter the weekend winners of just six of the last 15 and three of the last 13. Transfers Graham Ashcraft (1-3, 3.51 ERA) and Tanner Rusk (1-1, 2.70 ERA) headline the weekend rotation, while veterans Zack Davis (.385, 2 HR, 25 RBI) and Colton Schultz (.319, 4 HR, 29 RBI) lead the offense. UAB is 11-6 at home. Series History: The all-time series is tied, 10-10.
