NORFOLK, Va.. -- Old Dominion takes on its first ranked opponent of 2019 on Wednesday, when the Monarchs host No. 12 East Carolina at the Bud Metheny Complex for a 6 p.m. ET contest.
Old Dominion has won eight of the last 10 and each of the last three weekend series. The Monarchs are 9-1 in midweek games, with the only loss coming on the road at Virginia.
At the friendly confines of The Bud this season, ODU is 16-8 and batting .301 as a club.
For the season, a total of six Monarchs are hitting .300 or better, led by Bryce Windham (.338, 1 HR, 14 RBI) and Ryan Teschko (.327, 1 HR, 15 RBI).
Vinnie Pasquantino (.266, 8 HR, 34 RBI) and Andy Garriola (.309, 5 HR, 33 RBI) have provided the pop in ODU's lineup.
Garriola has doubled in five straight games and Pasquantino has homered in five of the last 10. Will Morgan has also come on as of late, homering in three of the last seven games he has played.
On the mound, lefty Jason Hartline (0-0, 4.50) makes his second straight midweek start. Hartline allowed one run in three innings at VCU last Tuesday.
The Monarchs are 13-20 all-time against ranked opponents under Coach Finwood.

Last weekend, ECU swept No. 18 UConn to remain atop the AAC standings. Alec Burleson (.374, 4 HR, 26 RBI) and Spencer Brickhouse (.357, 11 HR, 36 RBI) lead an offense that is averaging over six runs per game. ECU takes on UNCW on Tuesday night. Series History: ODU leads the series, 33-31.
