RALEIGH, N.C. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team fell at N.C. State by a 1-0 score over the weekend. So far for the spring, ODU has compiled a 3-1 record and outscored its opponents 10-1.

In the 42nd minute, Kyra Ricks won the ball and sprung Gaby Bentley in behind the N.C. State back line. Under pressure from a defender, Bentley tried to slip the ball in far post beyond the keeper but an outstretched foot did just enough to stop the ball, which the keeper then collected.

In the 49th minute, a header from Emily Roberts on an Allie Brimmer corner kick forced a save from the Wolfpack keeper just under the crossbar.

N.C. State took a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute, when the ball was played over the top from Kia Rankin to Tziarra King, which gave King a 1v1 breakaway with ODU’s goalkeeper, Erin Davidson, which King converted.

Defensive pressure from ODU’s Morgan Hall in the 84th minute forced a turnover, which fell to Amanda Nhek for an open shot from just outside the box, which was placed at the keeper and the save was made.

Reagan Tate played a long ball to Amanda Nhek in the 89th minute, which went in behind the N.C. State defense, forcing the keeper out of her box. The ensuing touch from the goalkeeper landed at the feet of Gaby Bentley who struck the rebound at the goalkeeper.

ODU returns home for the final spring game on Friday, April 19th at 7:00 p.m. ET, when the Monarchs play host to Virginia Wesleyan. Admission is free and Monarch Soccer Sisters will be honorary mascots for the final time this spring.
