SAN ANTONIO -- One weekend after claiming a Conference USA series on the road at UAB, Old Dominion again travels across the country, this time for a series at UTSA at Roadrunner Field.
First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. ET on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. for Sunday's finale. All three games will be aired locally on the radio at 1310 The Power and can also be streamed on CUSA.tv with a paid subscription.
The Monarchs are coming off of a series win at UAB last weekend, taking 2-of-3 from the Blazers. It was ODU's first C-USA series win since May of 2017.
Rolling on that momentum, Old Dominion rallied for a 6-5 walk-off win over VCU on Tuesday and enter the weekend on a three-game winning streak.
ODU is hitting .276 as a team with 20 home runs. Bryce Windham (.345, 1 HR, 12 RBI) leads the Monarchs in hitting and Vinnie Pasquantino (.270, 5 HR, 25 RBI) and Andy Garriola (.298, 4 HR, 25 RBI) are tied for the team lead in runs driven in.
The starting rotation will see a slight alteration for this weekend. Left-hander Tommy Gertner (1-0, 2.78 ERA) moves to Friday night and Ryne Moore (5-2, 4.05 ERA) remains on Saturday. Sunday's starter is TBA.
Overall, the Monarchs have a staff ERA of 4.42 and have stuck out 275 in 289.0 innings.
ODU and UTSA have met in a C-USA series in each of the last five years. The Roadrunners hold a slight 8-7 edge overall and a 3-2 advantage in series. The series has never ended in a sweep.
