SARASOTA, Fla. - The Old Dominion women's rowing team is set to compete in the Sunshine State Invitational on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6 hosted by Florida Tech. The Monarchs have four boats racing in the 11 team field at Nathan Benderson Park.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to compete at a world class facility and the ability to take strokes against high quality teams after a strong home race weekend," said head coach Dan Garbutt. "Our crews are looking forward to the event continuing to grow amongst good competition.”
The Monarchs are coming off a strong showing against George Mason in their ODU Invite on March 23. Their 1V8+ posted a 6:40.9 time, while 2V8+ finished 7:26.2 and the 1V4+ finished 7:31.8, all ahead of the Patriots.
Friday racing for the Monarchs begins at 3:20 p.m. with the 2V4+ boat followed by 1V4+, 2V8+ and 1V8+. Once Friday action wraps up, the top two finishers from each heat and the next two fastest times from each heats will automatically move on to the A Final on Saturday. The 2018 NCAA Rowing Championships and the 2017 Rowing World Championships were also were held at Nathan Benderson Park.
