NORFOLK, Va. -- For the first time since 1999, Old Dominion baseball swept a Power-5 school, dominating Rutgers, 12-2, on Sunday at the Bud Metheny Complex to complete the series sweep of the Scarlet Knights.

Old Dominion (8-2) scored seven in the first and five in the third, as the Monarchs have now won seven straight.

ODU's last sweep of a Power-5 school was also over Rutgers (2-7) during that '99 season under Tony Guzzo.

Matt Schwarz and Kyle Battle provided the offense for ODU. Schwarz went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs and Battle went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and four driven in.

On the mound, starting pitcher Ryne Moore picked up his second win in six days. Moore went five innings, allowing just one unearned run while striking out five.

For the series, ODU outscored Rutgers, 27-9. The Monarchs hit .321 as a club and had a staff ERA of 2.00.

During the seven-game winning streak, Old Dominion has outscored its opponents, 57-19.

QUOTABLES
"We took advantage of a couple mistakes they made and then had some big hits... The last two days, we got some big hits, some timely hits, some hits with runners in scoring position." - Chris Finwood, on the early offense

"I was really impressed with Ryne Moore. He threw the ball really well again today. He was around the zone. He's really getting better and that's good to see. Velocity was good for only having four days off, instead of six." - Finwood, on Moore's performance

"We've pitched better. We've thrown more strikes. And our approaches offensively have gotten better." - Finwood, on the winning streak
