NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion baseball team rallied to overcome an early 5-0 deficit to secure the series-clinching win against Rutgers, 12-5, on Saturday afternoon at the Bud Metheny Complex.

Old Dominion (7-2) has now won six straight and two consecutive series.

Trailing 5-0 in the third inning, the Monarch offense received a jolt when Vinnie Pasquantino delivered a bases-clearing, 3-RBI double that ignited a five-run inning to tie the game.

Then in the fifth, Andy Garriola made a run-saving, diving grab on the warning track in left field with two outs to end the top half. In the bottom of the fifth, Garriola gave ODU a lead it would not relinquish with an RBI double.

The Monarchs then broke it open with a four-run seventh.

Pasquantino went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs and Garriola went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Bryce Windham had three hits and three runs scored.

On the mound, the ODU bullpen combined to throw six scoreless innings, including four from Matt Busher, who picked up his second save. Trey Fisher earned the win, the first of his career, with 1.2 shutout innings.
