CONWAY, S.C. – The Old Dominion (0-1) lacrosse team fell to Coastal Carolina (1-0) on the road by a 19-10 score. Glory Johnson scored four goals for the Monarchs.

To open the game, Katie Miller put the Monarchs on the board first. The Chanticleers answered with five straight goals, three from Haley Alexander. 

Off a free position attempt, Glory Johnson scored her first goal of the season to make the game 6-2. Coastal scored five more goals before halftime. With ten minutes left in the first period, freshman Lilly Siskind scored her first collegiate goal off a free position attempt.

In the first half, Lauren Ey collected three saves.  

To open the second half, the Chanticleers opened up to a nine goal lead with back-to-back goals. With just under 25 minutes left to play, Lilly Siskind sent a ball to Glory Johnson, who netted her second goal of the game. The same duo answered a Coastal goal to cut the deficit. Almost two minutes later, Lauren Irvine scored her first goal of the season with under 18 minutes left in the second half. 

ODU and Coastal traded goals for the next five minutes. Claire Porter and Lindsay Baer added goals for the Monarchs in that time span, with an assist from Brooke Stein. Johnson and Porter added two more goals for ODU but ultimately fell by a nine-goal deficit. Johnson took 10 shots and grabbed two groundballs.

In the second half, Haleigh Wurzel saved four shots during her first appearance for ODU. 

Overall, ODU took 25 shots, while Coastal took 3. The Monarchs won nine draw controls and had 12 groundballs. MK Maloney earned three groundballs, the most individually for ODU.
