NORFOLK, Va. – Francois Musitelli (Dijon, France) was named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by league officials. The awards marks the second in a matter of four weeks for ODU (Aziz Kijametovic on Feb. 6).
Musitelli paced No. 40 nationally ranked Old Dominion to two big victories, one being over No. 23 Penn. The junior went 4-0, clinching the victories in both matches, scoring the team’s fourth point against both Penn and Yale. In singles against Yale, Musitelli won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Against Penn, he bounced back after a second set loss to clinch the point, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. The Dijon, France, native also went 2-0 in doubles.
Musitelli and the Monarchs will return to action on Friday, March 1 when ODU takes on Utah in Salt Lake City at 7:00 p.m. ET. Then on Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m., Old Dominion will square-off against No. 26 BYU for a second time this season in Provo, Utah.
