NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (0-4) women’s lacrosse team fell to William & Mary (2-0) on Wednesday night by a 17-10 score. Glory Johnson recorded four goals, while Sophia Richie notched a hat trick.
The first four minutes was a battle between the two, where ODU and the Tribe exchanged goals. With 20 minutes left in the first half, William & Mary scored four-straight goals to take a 6-2 lead. Glory Johnson closed the deficit but the Tribe scored four more goals before first half time expired.
In the second period, William & Mary opened with two goals, both from Meredith Hughes. Richie tallied one off a Lilly Siskind pass and less than one minute later Johnson notched her second of the game.
Siskind connected to Richie again to put the Monarchs within seven of the Tribe. William & Mary put up four more goals in the second half to ultimately top the Monarchs. Freshman Siskind connected four times throughout the match, she now has 14 points for the Monarchs this season.
Claire Porter and Siskind both scored goals for ODU in the second half.
Defensively, Alyssa Sebesto made five caused turnovers and collected four groundballs. Kerri Caruso collected two groundballs and grabbed four draw controls. Starting in goal, Haleigh Wurzel made one save, while stepping in before halftime, Lauren Ey made seven saves on the night.
The Monarchs were outshot by the Tribe, 33-20.
Freshman Tess Meurling made her first career start and grabbed two draw controls.
