NORFOLK, Va. --
The second season of the Nikki McCray era for Old Dominion women's basketball officially begins on Tuesday, as the Monarchs head to Campbell for the 2018-19 opener at 5 p.m. ET.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and also aired on Famous 1310 AM radio featuring commentary from Doug Ripley and Susan Montgomery.

Last Friday, Old Dominion defeated Christopher Newport, 77-42, in an exhibition at the Ted Constant Center. True freshman Ajah Wayne led the Monarchs in that contest with 18 points, 12 rebounds and seven steals.

From last season, ODU returns three players in Victoria Morris, Taylor Edwards and Dejah Carter

Morris led the team in scoring last season with 11.0 points per game en route to Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors. She became the first freshman to lead ODU in scoring since Celeste Hill in 1990-91. Her fellow backcourt mate Edwards also had a breakout season in 2017-18. The Portsmouth native averaged 7.6 points and a team-leading 6.0 rebounds. She also led the team with three double-doubles.

With six true freshmen and an average age of 19.33 on the roster, the Monarchs are tied for sixth-youngest team in all of Division I.
