NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's basketball team heads to Charleston, South Carolina, this weekend for games against Jacksonville and Tennessee Tech as part of the Buccaneer Classic at Charleston Southern's University Center Arena.
Old Dominion will first take on Jacksonville on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. ODU then plays Tennessee Tech on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Monarchs have had nearly a week of preparation for this weekend's contests, after falling to Virginia, 73-67, last Sunday for their first loss of the season. On the road, ODU is 2-0 this season with away victories at Campbell and Cincinnati.
As a team, ODU is averaging 73.8 points per game, nearly a 20-point increase from last season. Three Monarchs are averaging double figures, led by true freshman Ajah Wayne, who is averaging a team-leading 18.3 points and 9.0 rebounds. Veteran guards Taylor Edwards and Victoria Morris are also averaging double figures for the Monarchs.
The ODU program has two members who hail from the Palmetto State: assistant coach Brittany Young and freshman forward Amari Young. Head coach Nikki McCray-Penson also served as an assistant coach at South Carolina prior to arriving at Old Dominion.
