NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion wrestling team hosted Monarch Movement Education Day on Monday night at Blair Middle School for all Norfolk Public Middle Schools.
"The Monarch Movement Wrestling Education Day was a great opportunity for our guys to give back to the community," said head coach Steve Martin. "We were able to engage with the middle school wrestlers and coaches from the City of Norfolk and we look forward to making this an annual event. We would like to thank Norfolk Public Schools Athletics Senior Coordinator Steve Suttmiller for making this event possible."
The event started off with each Monarch student-athlete introducing themselves and describing what it means to be a Division I student-athlete. The remainder of the night consisted of breaking off into several groups and the ODU wrestlers teaching basic technique to the young athletes.
