LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 24 Old Dominion (10-4-2, 6-2-0 C-USA) men’s soccer team fell to No. 3 Kentucky (15-1-1, 7-1-0 C-USA) on Friday night, 3-0. The Monarchs will be the No. 2 seed in next week’s C-USA Tournament held in Charlotte, N.C.
The Wildcats got off to a strong start by scoring a goal in the first minute of play. They followed by scoring once more before halftime to go up 2-0 heading into the second period of play.
Kentucky opened the second half with a goal in the 50th minute from Bailey Rouse.
The Monarchs took four shots to close play in the second half.
ODU was outshot 16-6. Jimmy Filerman took two shots, while Tom Wustenberg, Niko Klosterhalfen, Sebastien Hauret and Daniel Corona each took one shot.
Mertcan Akar made four saves.
