IRVING, Texas – Senior Ryan McLaughlin was named C-USA Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon as announced by the league. This is McLaughlin’s second weekly honor of the season.
Against one of the strongest offenses in the league, McLaughlin held FIU to just eight shots and did not allow a goal in Sunday night's 3-0 shutout over the Panthers. The Ireland native helped ODU claim their fifth shutout of the season. McLaughlin took one shot against the Panthers. He did not allow FIU’s offensive leader Santiago Patino to take any shots through 90 minutes of play. Despite FIU taking five corners, McLaughlin and his defense did not allow a goal in any of those opportunities. The Monarchs will head into the final game of the league play in first place along with Kentucky.
