ATLANTA, Ga. - Old Dominion University football coach Bobby Wilder was named the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week, officials from the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl announced on Tuesday.

The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week award honors the football coach whose program embodies the award’s three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity, while also having success on the playing field during the previous week.

Wilder and the Monarchs defeated No. 13/10 Virginia Tech 49-35 on Saturday. ODU trailed by one score most of the day, until a Jeremy Cox 15-yard touchdown run put the Monarchs ahead for the first time at 35-28. After the Hokies tied the score, Blake LaRussa found Jonathan Duhart for a 29-yard strike to put ODU ahead to stay. Cox secured the win with a 40-yard TD run with 1:34 to play.

The Monarchs have raked in the awards this week as LaRussa was named National Offensive Player of the week by three publications, while being named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week and defensive end Oshane Ximines was named C-USA Defensive Player of the week. Duhart was added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List on Tuesday, given to the most outstanding receiver in college football.

Wilder will be on ESPN College Football Live today at 5 p.m.
