NORFOLK, Va. – The 2018 ODU Football season marks the 10th season of competition for the program, which played its first game against Chowan – a 36-21 victory on Sept 5, 2009. Since then ODU has recorded a 72-38 record, won 73% of its home games, and continued a streak that has amassed 60 consecutive home sellouts at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
ODU Football will recognize this milestone season and the final campaign at historic Foreman Field with a series of promotions throughout the season. ODU welcomes all fans to join in celebrating this special season and “Our Decade Unparalleled.”
- Helmet Sticker - ODU Football players will don a helmet sticker with the 10th season logo throughout the season.
- Limited Edition Merchandise - Available now online at www.shopodusports.com and at the ODU Village Bookstore is a limited edition line of ODU Football 10th season logo merchandise. Included in the line are items from Tervis, Image One, Wincraft and official athletics apparel provider, Under Armour. Also available is a limited edition Foreman Field shirt from Image One with images of the stadium throughout its 82-year history.
- Top 10 Games Poll - A poll is currently open on www.odusports.com for fans to vote on their favorite game of the past decade. Click here for the poll. The top 10 games will be announced throughout the season at home games on the video board, with the winning game announced at the final home game vs. VMI.
- Stadium Cup Series - A 10th season collector’s stadium cup series will be available for fans to collect throughout the season. The three-cup series will feature images of the new stadium, notable ODU Football alumni, and a farewell to Foreman Field. Each cup will be distributed at two select home games this season. Fans can receive their stadium cup by purchasing a $3 upgrade of any Pepsi product at the concession stand. The cups are 32 oz., an additional 8 oz. than a standard cup.
- Spirit Buttons - Spirit buttons will be distributed to the first 2,000 fans entering S.B. Ballard Stadium at the home opener vs. FIU and the season finale vs. VMI. The FIU button will feature the 10th season logo, and the VMI button will commemorate the final game in historic Foreman Field.
- Alumni Band & Spirit Squads - The Marching Monarchs and ODU Spirit Squads will be inviting back their alumni from the past decade to the Oct 27 Homecoming game vs. MTSU. The alumni band and alumni spirit squad members will march in the Homecoming parade and perform a special 10th season tribute at halftime.
- Final Game Celebration - Finally, everyone who has special memories of Foreman Field, since the 2009 re-birth of ODU Football or before, will want to be present at the final home game on Nov 17. ODU will host VMI for the 69th Annual Oyster Bowl, and the final game at Foreman Field in its present state before new construction begins. The university and the athletics department will honor this occasion with a celebration capturing the history of the stadium since its founding in 1936. Fans can expect to see former ODU football teams, pick up commemorative posters of Foreman Field, and experience an emotional post-game “turning out the lights” ceremony, just to name a few details.
