NORFOLK, Va. – Despite outshooting Appalachian State 23-6 for the match, the Old Dominion women’s soccer team (2-0-2) played to a 0-0 draw with the Mountaineers (1-2-0) on Sunday night at the ODU Soccer Complex in front of 658 fans.
ODU is off to its best four-match start to a season since 2010. Old Dominion’s defense hasn’t allowed a goal in the past 352 minutes of play.
The Monarchs held a 9-2 advantage in the shot department after the opening 45 minutes and then outshot App. State 10-2 in the second half. For the two overtime sessions, ODU held a 4-2 advantage for shots.
Old Dominion had two near goals called back due to offsides on Sunday night.
Lauren Burke made five saves in goal for the Mountaineers, while Erin Davidson made one for the Monarchs.
Old Dominion will return to action on Thursday, Aug. 30, when the Monarchs travel to Fairfax, Va. to take on George Mason at 7:00 p.m. ODU sophomore forward, Amanda Nhek, played her freshman season at GMU before transferring to Old Dominion.
