NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (1-0-0) men’s soccer team opened up their 2018 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Radford (0-1-0) on Friday night.
ODU got out to an early start from a goal by Max Wilschrey. In the 20th minute, Hans Kroschwitz dished over a cross to Wilschrey, who then sent a header right over the Radford goalkeepers hands.
Last season, Wilschrey led the Monarchs in goals with eight.
Throughout the second half of play, Radford’s Myles Yorke was handed his second yellow card of the game, which left the Highlanders playing a man down the remainder of the game.
Deniz Dogan and Kostas Mylonas made their first career starts as Monarchs. Newcomers James Ellis and Daniel Bloyou also saw time.
ODU outshot Radford, 11-9.

Sunday Dog Days
Sundays are “Dog Days” at all home matches this year for Old Dominion men's soccer The Sunday Dog Days promotion will allow fans to bring their dogs, on a leash, to any soccer match that takes place on a Sunday. There is no charge for bringing a dog.
During soccer games, dogs will be allowed on the grass area on the south and east sides of the ODU Soccer Complex. For field hockey, fans can utilize the grass area near the concession stand. In addition, ODU Athletics will set up bowls of water around each facility to make sure your pets stay hydrated during the sporting event.
VOUCHER BOOKS
With a $25 purchase of the 2018 Soccer Voucher book, fans receive 20 ticket vouchers that can be used in any combination to gain entry to any women's or men's regular season game at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The vouchers can be redeemed in any quantity and represent a 75% savings over purchasing general admission tickets at the gate. In addition to entry to the games, the first 200 fans that purchase their ticket voucher books will receive an ODU soccer scarf.
