NORFOLK, Va. – Natalie Johnson scored a goal and dished out two assists to lead the Old Dominion women’s soccer team (2-0-1) over Towson (0-3-0) by a 4-0 score on Thursday night at the ODU Soccer Complex. The Monarchs have now outscored their opponents 7-0 in the past two matches.
In the 32nd minute, Natalie Johnson ripped a free kick, which was saved by Towson’s goalkeeper, only to be rebounded and scored by Deirdre Bradley to give ODU a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the 55th minute, Madison Morningstar played a free kick into Natalie Johnson, who headed the ball into the net, giving Old Dominion a 2-0 advantage.
Gaby Bentley made it 3-0 in the 64th minute after scoring off of a Natalie Johnson pass.
Amanda Nhek scored her first goal in an ODU uniform in the 85th minute off an Iris Achterhof corner kick to ultimately give the Monarchs a 4-0 victory on Thursday night in front of 416 fans.
The shutout was the second straight for ODU’s defense. Erin Davidson was credited with four saves.
Old Dominion will welcome Appalachian State (1-1-0) on Sunday, Aug. 26 for a 5:00 p.m. start. The match will stream live on C-USA TV.
Appalachian State is currently on 1-1-0 after dropping the opener 4-0 to High Point and then taking down Campbell, 3-0. Before coming to Norfolk, the Mountaineers will square-off against Maryland in College Park, Md. on Friday, Aug. 24 at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday Dog Days
Sundays are “Dog Days” at all home matches this year for Old Dominion women’s soccer. The Sunday Dog Days promotion will allow fans to bring their dogs, on a leash, to any soccer match that takes place on a Sunday. There is no charge for bringing a dog.
During soccer games, dogs will be allowed on the grass area on the south and east sides of the ODU Soccer Complex. For field hockey, fans can utilize the grass area near the concession stand. In addition, ODU Athletics will set up bowls of water around each facility to make sure your pets stay hydrated during the sporting event.
VOUCHER BOOKS
With a $25 purchase of the 2018 Soccer Voucher book, fans receive 20 ticket vouchers that can be used in any combination to gain entry to any women's (or men’s) regular season game at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The vouchers can be redeemed in any quantity and represent a 75% savings over purchasing general admission tickets at the gate. In addition to entry to the games, the first 200 fans that purchase their ticket voucher books will receive an ODU soccer scarf.
