CHICAGO, Ill. – Old Dominion University defensive end Oshane Ximines was named to the Ted Hendricks Award Watch List, given to the best defensive end in college football.
Ximines is one of 36 defensive ends on the watch list, and one of eight players from group of five schools on the list.
A native of Ahoskie, North Carolina, Ximines is second among active FBS players with 21 career sacks, including an ODU single-season record of 8.5 in 2017. Last season as a junior, Ximines had 44 tackles and led the team with 8.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss, while adding four forced fumbles, three pass breakups and seven quarterback hurries. He earned first-team All-Conference USA honors, as well as CoSIDA Academic All-District and Conference USA All-Academic team.
Ximines has started 36 of 37 possible games at defensive end, totaling 118 tackles, 33 tackles for loss and seven forced fumbles, which is tied for the ODU career record.
It is the fourth time Ximines has been named to a watch list this off-season, as he was named to the Bednarik, Nagurski and Wuerrfel Watch Lists.
