VERONA, Wisc. -- The Old Dominion women's golf team finished in a tie for 14th at the NCAA Madison Regional this week at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, Wisconsin.

"We just had a tough day and that's part of golf, part of sports," said head coach Mallory Hetzel. "I'm not really focused so much on that. I'm focused on celebrating two great careers with Kate and Maggie. The best two players ODU has ever had."

On a rain-soaked day that saw only two teams in the 18-squad field shoot under par for the day, the Monarchs (+41) carded a 315 to finish in a tie with Idaho for 14th. The top six teams advanced to the NCAA Championships.

Individually, Katerina Vlasinova (+5) and Charlotte De Corte (+5) posted the best rounds for the team with 6-over 78s. Vlasinova and De Corte both finished in a tie for 47th.

Abigail Portyrata (+16) shot a 79 to finish in a tie for 80th, while Maggie Simmermacher (+17) and Sana Tufail (+19) both shot 80s. Simmermacher finished in a tie for 82nd and Tufail tied for 86th.

Seniors Vlasinova and Simmermacher both played in their final tournament as a Monarch.

"They've given a lot of time and hard work and sacrifice to this university," said Hetzel about the seniors. "So, it really means a lot."

Duke (-14) won the team title, while Oregon State's Nicole Schroeder (-1) won the individual title.
