VERONA, Wisc. -- The Old Dominion women's golf team sits in 13th place out of 18 teams entering the final round of the NCAA Madison Regional at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, Wisconsin, this week.
The Monarchs (+14) carded a 7-over 295 for the second consecutive day and are 13 strokes out of sixth place. The top six teams advance to the NCAA Championship.
"We had two great with Kate and Charlotte," said head coach Mallory Hetzel. "Unfortunately, we didn't have two other good numbers to count and we weren't able to shoot under par, which was our goal for the day."
Katerina Vlasinova (-1) and Charlotte De Corte (-1) are both tied for 16th individually. Vlasinova had the best round of any Monarch on Tuesday with a 3-under 69, while De Corte fired an even 72. Vlasinova also had a team-best five birdies on Tuesday.
"I think I'm striking the ball pretty well," said Vlasinova. "Today, I just made some putts and that was the difference."
Rounding ODU's scoring for Tuesday were Abigail Portyrata (+9), who carded a 4-over 76, and Sana Tufail (+11), who shot a 78. Portyrata is tied for 71st and Tufail is tied for 82nd. Maggie Simmermacher (+9) is also tied for 71st.
"We had a lot of positives at the end to give us some momentum going into tomorrow," said Hetzel.
Tomorrow's final round begins at 9 a.m. ET with ODU teeing off at 9:45 a.m. ET. The Monarchs will be paired with Idaho and Notre Dame.
