Season Ends at ASUN Tournament for Lacrosse Monarchs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The No. 4 seeded Old Dominion (5-13, 2-3 ASUN) lacrosse team fell to top seeded Jacksonville (15-3, 5-0 ASUN) by a 17-4 score at D.B. Milne Field on Thursday afternoon in the semifinal of the ASUN Championship. 

A goal by Hanna Breslin got the Monarchs on the board first. The Dolphins answered with three back-to-back goals. 

Old Dominion closed the deficit with a Sophia Richie goal. 

Jacksonville went on to score six-straight goals to close scoring in the first half. 

To start the second half, the Dolphins tallied two goals before the Monarchs found the back of the net. Jacksonville added six more goals and Natalie Ledwitz scored the final Monarch goal of the game. 

Defensively, Lauren Ey made 13 saves, which ties for the most saves in a game in her career. Ey finished the 2018 season with 120 saves. Kerri Caruso tallied 4 caused turnovers and three groundballs. With 38 caused turnovers this season, the junior now sits third all-time for career caused turnovers with a whopping 82.

The Monarchs qualified for every ASUN Tournament since joining the league in 2015. Next season, Old Dominion will be competing in the Big East conference for lacrosse.
