236 Student-Athletes Earn C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll Recognition

The NCAA released its’ APR (Academic Progress Report) scores for the 2016-17 academic year and three ODU teams were recognized by the NCAA for their outstanding 2016-17 four-year scores. Baseball, Men’s Basketball and Women’s Lacrosse earned the honor. To earn this recognition teams must rank in the top 10 percent of all squads in each particular sport.

In addition, a school-record eight ODU teams recorded a perfect Single-Year APR score of 1000. Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Lacrosse, Women’s Golf, Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Men’s and Women’s Tennis each achieved a perfect single year APR score.

“The fact that these student-athletes on our teams are being recognized for their achievement of excellence over a four-year period is truly outstanding,” stated Old Dominion University President John R. Broderick. “The commitment our men and women have made toward excelling in the classroom is something that makes our entire ODU community proud.”

Six Monarch programs recorded their highest four-year APR score ever. Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Football, Women’s Lacrosse, Women’s Swimming and Women’s Tennis achieved their highest APR scores ever.

“We have made a concerted effort to improve our APR scores over the past several years,” added ODU Director of Athletics Dr. Wood Selig, “I want to thank the student-athletes, coaches and academic support team for their hard work in achieving these important milestones.”

The APR started in 2003-04 and is a term-by-term measure of Eligibility and Retention of scholarship student-athletes compiled over a four-year period. This year’s APR is based on scores submitted for 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17.
