NORFOLK, Va. - UTSA scored runs in five of the first six innings to top Old Dominion University baseball on Sunday afternoon, 11-3. The win clinched a series win for the Roadrunners, 2-1.
UTSA (28-21, 14-12) scored quickly with a leadoff homer from Brian Arias and took a 4-0 lead before Old Dominion (15-33, 7-19) punched a run across the board with a Will Morgan RBI double in the third to make the score 4-1.
UTSA tacked on another run in the fifth and the Monarchs loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the inning, but Morgan bounced into a double play and Erik Stock grounded out to end the inning with just one run across to cut the lead to 5-2.
The Roadrunners added four runs in the ninth, while Matt Schwarz added an RBI fielder's choice for the final 11-3 margin.
Craig Lopez and Culver Lamb had three hits apiece for the Monarchs.
