HOUSTON -- For the first time this season, Old Dominion was swept in a weekend series, as the Monarchs fell to Rice, 18-1, in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Reckling Park.
Prior to the loss, Old Dominion (10-20, 3-9 C-USA) had won six consecutive Sunday games.
Rice (15-19, 5-7 C-USA) surged out to an early 12-0 lead through two innings with five in the first and seven in the second. For the day, the Owls had 20 hits.
Ryne Moore (1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER) received the loss.
At the plate, Brian Morley (1-3, RBI) drove in the Monarchs' lone run. Kyle Battle (2-3, R, BB) and Erik Stock (2-4) both notched multi-hit games.
Up next, the Monarchs remain on the road for a midweek contest at William & Mary on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET.
