TEXARKANA, Ark. -- Behind a fourth-place finish from true freshman Gustav Fransson, the Old Dominion men's golf team placed seventh at the Conference USA Championship this week at Texarkana Country Club in Arkansas.
Fransson (E) carded a 1-under 71 on Tuesday to finish the 54-hole event at even par. For his fourth-place finish, Fransson was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Overall, ODU (+25) finished 17 stokes behind UAB (+8) and eight strokes behind fourth-place Rice (+17). The top four teams qualified for match play that will determine the conference champion. The match play will be played this afternoon and tomorrow.
Michael Bakker (+9) and Chad Hess (+9), who had the second-best round of any Monarch on Tuesday with 1-over 73, both tied for 26th. Rounding out the ODU lineup were Nick Rencis (+10), who tied for 31st, and Calvin Greschner (+11), who tied for 36th.
Mitchell Meissner (-5) of Rice won the individual title.
