NORFOLK, Va. -- Coming off of a thrilling walkoff victory over Middle Tennessee on Sunday, Old Dominion travels north to take on Virginia on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Davenport Field.
Old Dominion (10-16, 3-6 C-USA) is 3-2 in midweek games this season and 3-1 against opponents from the state of Virginia.
The Monarchs are hitting .297 as a club, which ranks 23rd in the nation. Erik Stock (.353, 1 HR, 8 RBI) leads six ODU players hitting .300 or better. Matt Schwarz (.350, 15 RBI, 5 SB) has been productive out of the leadoff spot, while Culver Lamb (.327, 4 HR, 16 RBI) leads the team in extra-base hits with 11.
On the mound, true freshman Ryne Moore (0-0, 1.50 ERA) will make his first career start. Moore has appeared in seven games for the Monarchs and is coming off of a season-long outing of 4.2 innings of relief in game one against Middle Tennessee.
Virginia (15-13, 4-8 ACC) began the year ranked in the top 25, but the Cavaliers have lost six of their last eight.
ODU leads the all-time series against UVA, 33-28-2. Last year, the Monarchs fell to the Cavaliers at Davenport Field. However, ODU has won three of the last five meetings.
