WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Led by a fourth-place finish by Chad Hess, the Old Dominion men's golf team placed fifth out of 24 teams at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate this week at the Kingsmill Resort River Course in Williamsburg.

Old Dominion (+37) finished 9-over as a team in the final round and ended the tournament 15 strokes behind team champion Southern Illinois (+22).

Individually, Hess (+2) carded a 2-over 72 on Tuesday and finished four strokes behind individual champion Peyton Wilhoit (-2) of Southern Illinois. Hess recorded 12 birdies for the tournament, which was tied for second among individuals. As a team, ODU had 38, which led the field.

Calvin Greschner (+9) also notched a top-20 finish for the Monarchs. Greschner finished in a tie for 19th after posting the best round by an ODU player on Tuesday with a 1-under 69. 

Also placing in the top half of the 127-player field were Gustav Fransson (+14), who tied for 43rd, and Nick Rencis (+16), who tied for 57th. Antonio Cruz-Conde (+19) rounded out the ODU lineup and finished in a tie for 72nd.

Next up, the Monarchs head to Greenville next week for the East Carolina Intercollegiate April 2-3.
