WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Chad Hess is tied for first and Old Dominion is tied for third through 18 holes at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort River Course in Williamsburg.
Old Dominion (+13) is tied with Southern Illinois for third on the team leaderboard, six strokes behind first-place Utah Valley (+7). Through the first 18 holes, ODU leads the tournament in Par-3 scoring (E) and total birdies (17).
Individually, Hess (-2) carded a 2-under 68 in the opening round and sits in a three-way tie for first. The senior led all players in birdies with seven in the opening round and was one of just three individuals in the 126-player field to finish the first round under-par.
Following Hess, Calvin Greschner (+5), Nick Rencis (+5) and Antonio Cruz-Conde (+5) are all tied for 35th. Gustav Fransson (+9) rounded out the ODU lineup and is tied for 92nd.
