NORMAN, Okla. - The Old Dominion women’s tennis team (8-1) hits the road to take on Oklahoma (1-4) on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1:00 p.m. EST at the Headington Family Tennis Center. They are then set to travel the next day to face Wichita State (5-2) on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 11:00 a.m. EST at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex. The Monarchs are riding a five match win streak. The last time they lost was on Jan. 20, against Tennessee, by a score of 3-4. This past Sunday, ODU hosted a double-header and defeated conference foe Charlotte by a score of 4-0 and also defeated Appalachian State by a score of 6-1. Senior captain Adriana Rajkovic has led this team with a perfect singles record of 8-0.

Meet Oklahoma
Audra Cohen is in the midst of her second season as head coach of the Sooners. Cohen, before her tenure began for the Sooners, spent the previous five seasons as the head coach at North Florida where she led the program to four NCAA Tournament appearances while winning four Atlantic Sun tournament titles. The Sooners’ roster is filled with both raw talent and experience as they have four freshman, two sophomores and five seniors. Senior Lily Miyazaki is currently ranked at No. 18 in singles, according to the ITA National Rankings.

Meet Wichita State
Head coach Colin Foster is currently in his ninth season at the helm of the Shockers’ program. In the 2016 season, he led Wichita State to a school-record tying 27 dual wins and saw the Shockers rank as high as 13th nationally, which led to him receiving a five-year contract extension in May of 2016. Under Foster, the Shockers have swept the conference regular season and tournament championships in each of his first seven seasons.

The Shockers currently have two singles players nationally ranked in No. 73 Fatima Bizhukova, as well as No. 104 Sandra Honigova.

Looking Ahead for the Monarchs 
After this weekend’s two road matches, the Monarchs will continue to travel to play their next four matches. Those four matches, in order, consist of: Penn, Temple, C-USA opponent Marshall and finally, West Virginia. Once this long road stretch is over, ODU will get the comfort of playing the next seven matches at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center and also get to host the Conference USA Tournament.
