PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Behind a 4-under opening round from Nick Rencis, the Old Dominion men's golf team is tied for 10th through 18 holes at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club in southern California.
Rencis (-4) recorded six birdies, tied for the fourth most in the field, and sits in a tie for third on the player leaderbaord through 18 holes.
Following Rencis, Michael Bakker, Gustav Fransson and Calvin Greschner (+3) all carded 3-over opening rounds and are tied for 69th overall. Senior Chad Hess (+4) rounded out the ODU lineup and is tied for 84th.
The Monarchs (+5) currently sit in a tie for 10th with 39th-ranked ranked TCU. No. 19 California leads the event at -13.
