INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Six Monarchs have been highlighted in the first Division I coaches’ panel ranking. In part of the mid way point of the 2017-2018 season, the NCAA released the first of four coaches’ panel ranking on Thursday morning. Michael McGee (125), Caleb Richardson (133), Alex Madrigal (141), Kenan Carter (149), Larry Early (157), and Seldon Wright (174) are among the ODU student-athletes included in the first ranking.
There will be three more rankings leading up to the NCAA Division I Championships on March 15-17 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

True freshman Michael McGee has been ranked 20th in the nation at 125 pounds. McGee is the highest ranked wrestler in the MAC and has an 18-7 record. McGee is the highest ranked Monarch in this NCAA release.
133-pound Caleb Richardson was the final wrestler included in the ranking coming in at 33rd. Richardson is a three-time NCAA Qualifier under the University of Pennsylvania.
At 141, Alex Madrigal checks in at 23rd in the country in the NCAA Division I coaches’ panel ranking. Madrigal is a 2017 NCAA Qualifier and is currently 12-5 on the season so far.
Junior Kenan Carter enters the coaches’ ranking at 32nd. Most recently, Carter went 2-2 at the Virginia Duals and is 17-10 overall this season. The Monarch has one win over a ranked opponent in No. 17 Jamal Morris of NC State.
At 157, Larry Early checks in at 23rd in the rankings. Early went 4-0 at the Virginia Duals and collected 14 points for the Monarchs. The student-athlete placed in eighth place at the Midlands Championships and has an 18-7 record.
Seldon Wright is the final Monarch ranked. Wright checks in at 23rd in the 174- pound weight class. Wright has two wins over ranked opponents throughout this season. The Monarch has a 17-5 record and a 56-32 career record as a junior.
