CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Old Dominion University swimmer Ethan Apisa was named the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Swimmer of the Week, the CCSA announced on Tuesday.
On Saturday against William and Mary, Apisa broke the JC Scrap Chandler pool record in the 1000 free with a first place time of 9:26.58, nearly 12 seconds ahead of second place. He broke the record held by Jimmy Sullivan of 9:28.18, set in 1999.
Apisa added a third place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:41.70.
He becomes the fourth swimmer this season to win the weekly CCSA award, joining Anton Mikaelsson, Filip Svedberg and Nick Wukovits.
