NORFOLK, Va. – Jackie Stroud and Iris Achterhof of the ODU women’s soccer team garnered All-Region honors on Thursday, as they were named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's All-South Region Teams. Stroud was named to the First Team, while Achterhof earned Second Team honors.

In Stroud’s redshirt senior season, she was named the Conference USA Defender of the Year and garnered First Team All-League honors, while also being named to the C-USA All Academic Team.

Stroud tied for the team’s leading goal scorer with five and led the squad in game-winners with three. She was second on squad for points (13), as a defender. Stroud also dished out three assists (fourth on team). She played every minute of all 17 matches she played in this season. The team captain was instrumental in ODU allowing just one goal or less in 13 of 18 games. Stroud was a two-time Defender of the Week in 2017. She helped lead Old Dominion to its best ever season in the C-USA and the program’s best season since 2008. Stroud was an All-Conference USA honoree two years ago.

During Iris Achterhof’s junior season, she was named to the All-Conference USA Third Team, as she led the team in assists with seven (third most in Conference USA) and tied the team-high for points with 17 and goals with five. Her two goals in the regular season finale against defending C-USA champions, Charlotte, sealed the deal for Old Dominion’s best season since 2008 and best ever finish in the league. The Netherlands-native also scored her third goal in as many halves in the C-USA Tournament Quarterfinals against LA Tech. Achterhof was an All-Conference USA honoree two seasons ago and Freshman of the Year in 2015.
