RALEIGH, N.C. – The Old Dominion wrestling team (1-1) will compete against No. 6 NC State (6-0) on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C. The Monarchs are entering their first dual match since November 12.
The match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, which can be viewed on ESPN3, on the Watch ESPN App.
Most recently, the Monarchs are coming off a third place finish at the Navy Classic. Michael McGee, Alex Madrigal, and Larry Early all earned second place finishes. Highlighting the tournament was Michael McGee, who defeated No. 25 ranked Elijah Oliver of Indiana. Also on the list defeating a ranked opponent was Alex Madrigal. Madrigal defeated No. 9 Tyler Smith of Bucknell by an 11-7 decision. The then unranked Seldon Wright topped No. 19 Tyrel White and No. 20 Dylan Lyndy to take a third place finish at the Navy Classic.
In that same tournament, the Monarchs had more team points than No. 25 Princeton.
In the latest InterMat rankings, Alex Madrigal went from unranked to a No. 15 spot at 141. Seldon Wright was ranked at No. 20 in the most recent FloWrestling ranking. These two are the lone 2017 NCAA Qualifiers that returned from last year. 133-pound transfer, Caleb Richardson competed in three NCAA Tournaments under Pennsylvania University.

The last time these two met in 2017 the Wolfpack won 25-13. NC State holds a 13-7-0 mark against the Monarchs. ODU is looking for their first victory over NC State since 2012, when they dominated the Wolfpack, 36-3.
