NORFOLK, Va. - It was announced on Thursday morning by head wrestling coach Steve Martin the addition of Timothy Young of Aurora, Illinois. This will be the fifth student-athlete added from the power-state of Illinois. The total count of Illinois natives on the Old Dominion squad will be 11 for the 2018-2019 season.

It is a major goal for our program to get as many kids as we can from the state of Illinois. There is so much talent in the land of Lincoln and Coach Thomas has done a great job connecting with the coaches and athletes there."
Timothy Young – Aurora, Ill. - Ellsworth Community College - 197
Timothy Young will be coming to Old Dominion with two years of experience on the junior college level at Ellsworth Community College, where he earned the 2017 JUCO National Title as a freshman. He is currently ranked at No. 1 in the country for Ellsworth at 197 pounds. In 2015, Young was the 195-pound Illinois Class 3A State Champion. Adding to his career accomplishments, Young was a 2014 Fila Cadet Greco National Champion and World Team member, where he finished 5th in the world for Team USA.
Daryl Thomas on Timothy Young – “Tim is an extreme competitor that has taken a different path to get to where he is. His perseverance is to be admired and that’s why we recruited him. He has won at every level including internationally. He will be a nice boost in our upper weights. He also has international aspirations post grad and will continue to pursue those during his time here. Tim will study History Education.”
