NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's golf team travels to North Carolina this week to compete in the Pinehurst Challenge at the Pinehurst Resort.

The College of Charleston-hosted tournament begins with 36 rounds on Monday and then concludes on Tuesday with the final 18. This year's field includes the host school Charleston, East Carolina, Elon, Georgia State, Jacksonville, James Madison, Maryland, Presbyterian, UNC Greensboro, UAB, William & Mary and ODU. All three rounds will be played on the No. 1 course, which is a Par 72, 5,794-yard course.

The Pinehurst Challenge was a late addition to the ODU fall slate. Head coach Mallory Hetzel added the event following the cancellation of the Golfweek Program Championship in early September.

The Monarchs opened the fall with a seventh-place finish at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Colorado two weeks ago. Seniors Katerina Vlasinova, who finished fourth, and Maggie Simmermacher, who tied for 11th, led ODU in the season-opening tournament.
