Norfolk, Va. – Old Dominion University, along with Conference USA will be taking part in the College Football Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers initiative during Old Dominions next home game against Florida Atlantic.
What is Extra Yard for Teachers
Extra Yard for Teachers is an initiative taken by the CFB Foundation to elevate the teaching profession using the name of college football. This initiative has three goals: 1) to recognize the teachers that are educating our children, 2) Direct Provision of Resources, and 3) Professional Development. The goal of decreasing a teacher’s out of pocket costs to get supplies to their students, the CFB Foundation looks to provide funds directly to the classrooms.
How will they do it
Each of the 14 members of Conference USA will receive a check for $10,000 that will be used to get supplies to the schools surrounding the institution receiving the money.
The presentation of the check will be done on October 7, 2017 at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
