NORFOLK, Va. -- Head coach Mallory Hetzel and the Old Dominion women's golf program released the complete schedule for the 2017-18 season on Wednesday.

The upcoming season's slate features a three-tournament fall schedule followed by a five-tourney spring.

"Playing a strong regular season schedule allows us be at our best in the postseason," said Hetzel. "Last season, we faced a number of top-ranked teams and it ultimately had us ready to be at our best at the conference championship."

Last season, Hetzel, in her first season at the helm, helped guide the Monarchs to their first-ever conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance.

This season, the Monarchs open with a pair of Golfweek tournaments in the fall in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Vail, Colorado, respectively. ODU then closes out the fall season with the Palmetto Intercollegiate, hosted by the College of Charleston at Kiawah Island.

Following a three-month hiatus during the winter, ODU returns to action in the spring with three consecutive tournaments in the Sunshine State, competing in events hosted by UCF, Louisville (in Melbourne, Florida) and North Florida. The Monarchs then close the regular season with the College of Charleston-hosted Briar's Creek Invitational and Campbell's Brickyard Collegiate.

"Our spring schedule is very competitive," said Hetzel. "We love every opportunity to play great golf courses and tough competition. It really helps us have a better understanding on what we need to do to improve."

The Conference USA Championship is set for April 16-18 in Fort Myers, Florida, where the Monarchs took home the championship trophy a season ago. The NCAA Regional round will run May 7-9 followed by the NCAA Championship May 18-23 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

"I love how each tournament is spaced out in a way that allows our players the opportunity to properly prepare for each event," said Hetzel. "I am big believer in having my players rested and excited to play."

ODU loses just one player from last year's championship team and returns three All-C-USA performers in Maggie Simmermacher, Katerina Vlasinova and Charlotte De Corte from a season ago.
