COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Old Dominion women's golf team capped off its historic season under first-year head coach and C-USA Coach of the Year Mallory Hetzel with an 11th-place finish at the 2017 NCAA Columbus Regional. Individually, Sana Tufail (+11) was the highest-placing Monarch, as the sophomore improved from 61st to 26th on the final day of competition.

The Monarchs tied No. 44 Houston and finished five shots ahead of No. 46 Louisville. ODU, which wrapped up the initial round of the tournament in 17th on Monday, climbed up six slots over the course of the final two rounds.

Tufail (+11) claimed 26th place, while Charlotte De Corte (+14) placed 37th. Katerina Vlasinova (+19) placed 59th for the Monarchs.

On the final day, Tufail carded a 3-under 69 which included six birdies. She was the only player to break 70, as the 69 was a tournament low.

ODU women's golf concluded the 2017 season as the only conference champions in the 15-year history of the program as well as the only squad to reach an NCAA Regional. Mallory Hetzel was named C-USA Coach of the Year in just her first season, while Katerina Vlasinova was a first team all-C-USA selection and Maggie Simmermacher earned second team all-conference accolades.
