Old Dominion (28-12, 12-6 C-USA) is coming off of a big series win at 16th-ranked Southern Miss last weekend. The Monarchs tied their season high with 18 hits in the clinching victory in Game 3 en route to the program's first road series win against a ranked opponent since 2000.

The Monarchs enter the weekend in a three-way tie with Charlotte and Florida Atlantic for second in the league standings, one game behind first-place USM. Marshall is currently tied for seventh with LA Tech.

Offensively, ODU is scoring just under seven runs per game. Jared Young leads the club in average (.365), home runs (7) and stolen bases (8-11), while Zach Rutherford leads the team in RBIs (38) and has driven in a run in eight consecutive games. Freshman Vinnie Pasquantino is second on the team in average (.353) and has four home runs and 27 RBIs.

On the mound, Saturday starter Adam Bainbridge is 6-1 with a 1.84 ERA and held a streak of 31.1 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run earlier this season. Freshman John Wilson, the Sunday starter, is also 6-1 and owns an ERA of 3.52. Overall, opponents are hitting just .254 against ODU pitchers in league play, which leads C-USA.

Marshall (20-21, 8-10 C-USA) has dropped its last two conference series, losing 2-of-3 at Florida Atlantic and at home against FIU. At the plate, the Thundering Herd are hitting .269 as a team with 42 home runs. Sam Finfer leads the club in average (.342) and home runs (13), while Tyler Ratliff has hit nine home runs and leads the team in RBIs (41). On the mound, Wade Martin, who is 3-2 with a 3.26 ERA in 10 starts, has been the Herd's top starter.

ODU leads the all-time series, 7-6. However, the Thundering Herd have won 2-of-3 against ODU each of the past two seasons.
