Lacrosse Wraps Up Regular Season At Howard & Delaware State

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion lacrosse wraps up its regular season slate this weekend as the team travels to face Howard and Delaware State on April 28 and 29 respectively.  Following Saturday's games, the Atlantic Sun conference office will have a better idea of the conference tournament teams and seedings.

Old Dominion (7-8, 3-5)
ODU enters the weekend needing to win both games to have a chance of making the Atlantic Sun conference tournament on May 4-7.

  • The Lady Monarchs split last weekend defeating Kennesaw St. 16-14 and falling on senior day to Mercer 10-8.
  • Connor Carson leads the team with 33 goals, while Cydney Tutchton is second with 22 and Sophia Richie third with 19.
  • Megan Topper and Morgan Marrale are once again tied for the lead in assists with 13 each. Katie Miller and Tutchton are tied for third with seven apiece.
  • Defensively, Natalie Ledwitz has been a force for opponents to reckon with. She is tied for the lead in caused turnovers at 26, second in draw controls with 28 and tied-third with 29 ground balls.
  • Maggi Buckley has been the go-to goalie for ODU. She has collected 146 saves, a new personal season-high, for a .476 save percentage. Buckley has given up 161 for a 10.74 goals-against average.
  • The Lady Monarchs average 10.20 goals-per game and take 27.8 shots-per game.

Howard (0-11, 0-9)
Howard has fallen in all eleven contests to date heading into the last weekend of the regular season.

  • Howard's opponents have scored 236 goals this season while giving up just 55 to the Bison.
  • Natia Warren leads her team with 24 goals for 24 points. Asiyah Frank is next with 12 goals and an assist for 13 points.
  • Amerra Sheckles has started 10 games for the Hornets giving up 216 goals for a 21.60 goals-against-average and tallying 117 saves.
  • Howard averages 5 goals-per game and 12.4 shots-per game.

Delaware State (1-9, 1-8)
Delaware State's only win this season came over ASUN opponent Howard in a 17-14 decision in Washington, D.C.

  • DSU has been shutout once this season in a 24-0 loss to Stetson.
  • The Hornets have been out scored by their competition by 168 goals allowing 221 to date while scoring just 53 times this year.
  • DSU averages 5.30 goals per game and 15.9 shots-per game.
  • Del. St. has just 15 ladies on their roster including keeper Elizabeth Henry. 
  • Henry has played all 600 minutes in net giving up 221 goals for a 22.10 goals-against average and has made only 93 saves on 314 shot on goal attempts by opponents.
  • The Hornets are led by Iman Hasan who holds the team-high in goals (20), assists (9), and points (29).

Series History
The Lady Monarchs are 2-0 against the Bison of Howard in women's lacrosse. ODU has outscored HU 44-10 in the two previous contests.

Saturday's contest at Delaware State will be the first time that the two squads have met on the lacrosse field.

Looking Forward
The Lady Monarchs need to win both games this weekend to have a shot at making the 2017 ASUN Conference Tournament. This year's tournament is held from May 4-7 down in Jacksonville, Florida at Jacksonville University.
