CHANDLER, Ariz. -- The Old Dominion field hockey team was honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) this week for earning the National Academic Team Award, given to all teams that achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester.
Brown University registered the highest team GPA for the fall semester, while Hofstra, VCU, Bryant, American, Ball State and Temple rounded out the top five.
The Lady Monarchs posted a 3.36 GPA in the fall semester of 2016, while 12 student-athletes made the Dean's List including: Megan Byas, Julia Demeester, Lacey Frazier, Danielle Grega, Erin Huffman, Jess Miller, Kristie Robles, Kealsie Robles, Carrie Sensenig, Ashleigh Thomas and Kristen Vick.
The National Academic Squad includes all student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher through the first semester, while the Scholars of Distinction have a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher through the first semester. Both will be released by the NFHCA next Wednesday, March 15.
