NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 39 nationally ranked Old Dominion men’s tennis team (12-3) will host three matches this weekend versus C-USA opponents. The weekend’s matches begin on Friday, Mar. 24 at 3:00 p.m. when ODU welcomes Middle Tennessee (5-10) to the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center, where free pizza will be provided for fans. ODU will take on Florida Atlantic (12-4) on Saturday, Mar. 25 at 3:00 p.m. before finishing up the weekend with a match on Sunday, Mar. 26 at 10:00 a.m. against Charlotte (9-8).
The Monarchs are coming off two wins this past weekend over VCU and Brown and are currently on a four-match winning-streak.
ODU’s top singles player, Adam Moundir, is nationally ranked No. 36. The Monarchs doubles pairing of Jacob Nicolussi and Moundir are currently ranked No. 68 in the country as well.
These three home matches are coming in the middle of the Monarchs eight straight home matches. This weekend will be the only time the Monarchs will face C-USA opponents until the conference tournament in April.
Meet Middle Tennessee
The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders have started the season 5-10, as seven of their losses came on the road. The Blue Raiders are currently on a two-match losing streak and fell to No. 30 Tulane, 7-0, in their last match.
Meet Florida Atlantic
The Owls have started the season off 12-4 and are currently on a three-match winning streak. In the last three matches, the Owls have only dropped one point. They face off against Nebraska-Omaha in Boca Raton, before traveling up to Norfolk. It will be the first time this season that Florida Atlantic leaves the state of Florida.
Meet Charlotte
Charlotte has started the season off 9-8, rattling off five straight wins to start the spring. The 49ers then went on to lose six straight before going on another four-match winning streak. They are currently on a two-match losing streak after falling to UNC Wilmington in their last match, 5-2.
