NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion lacrosse opens up Atlantic SUN conference action with a pair of home games this weekend on March 24 and 26.
Jacksonville, the 2016 regular season champions, travels to the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on Friday the 24th to open up ASUN action against the Lady Monarchs. The Hatters of Stetson visit on Sunday, March 26, to wrap up the weekend.

Old Dominion (4-3, 0-0 ASUN)
The Lady Monarchs enter the game against Jacksonville on Friday after 10 days of rest from the 13-10 come-from-behind win over William and Mary on March 15.
- Katie Miller, a sophomore from Irondequoit, N.Y., earned her first-career Atlantic SUN Player of the Week award after her five-goal, one-assist game against William & Mary.
- Connor Carson still holds a slight lead in goals with 13. Sophia Richie is close behind with 12, while Miller and Cydney Tutchton are tied for third with nine goals each.
- Megan Topper and Morgan Marrale remained tied for the team-high in assists with six.
- Natalie Ledwitz leads the Lady Monarchs with 17 draw controls and 13 caused turnovers. She is third behind Maggi Buckley (19) and Kerri Caruso (16) in ground balls with 15.
- Maggi Buckley is second in the ASUN in both total saves and saves per game. She has collected 64 saves and tallies 9.14 per game. Buckley is 27th nationally in saves per game.
- With Buckley in the net, the Lady Monarchs have a 0.457 save percentage, good for second best in the conference.
- The Lady Monarchs are third in the ASUN in caused turnovers per game with 10.29, which ranks them 33rd nationally.
- ODU has the third best scoring defense in the ASUN allowing 10.86 goals per game. Coastal Carolina leads giving up just 9.83 goals per game.
- The Lady Monarchs finished the 2016 season with their best ASUN conference record of 7-1, falling only to Jacksonville in the regular season.
Jacksonville (3-4, 0-0 ASUN)
The Dolphins come into Friday’s game after picking up an 18-8 win over Wagner on Saturday, March 18.
- JU’s Danielle Della Rocca leads the team with 22 goals this season, five of which she collected in the 18-8 win over Wagner. She also has a team-high 26 points.
- Lillie Miller leads the Dolphins with five assists while Della Rocca, Courtney Valdez, Ashtyn Hiron and Parker Day are all tied with four assists each.
- Sydney Matthews and Mariah Cudlipp have split time in net for the Dolphins this season. Matthews is 3-2 with 47 goals allowed and 42 saves while Cudlipp is 0-2 giving up 39 goals and collecting 19 saves.
- The Dolphins claimed the regular season ASUN champion title five of the last six seasons, only missing the 2012 title.
- With ODU winning the 2016 ASUN Tournament Title, the Lady Monarchs snapped a four-year streak for the Dolphins who won the tournament from '12-'15, as well as three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances ('13-15).
Stetson (0-7, 0-0 ASUN)
The Hatters are still searching for their first win of the season. In their most recent contest, Stetson fell to Wagner 17-12 on Thursday, March 16.
- Shelby Lehmann and Sam Maguire lead the team in goals with 11 apiece. Lindsay Summers is just behind them with 10 goals.
- Summers holds a team-high 18 points from her 10 goals and 8 assists.
- Liza Diamond, the goalie for Stetson, leads the nation and conference in ground balls per game with 5.29. She has 37 on the season.
- Diamond is third in the conference in saves with 59, just behind ODU’s Buckley (64).
- The Hatters have scored 64 goals while allowing opponents to collect 133 through seven games. On average, Hatters opponents score 19 goals per game.
Series History…
Old Dominion has never beaten Jacksonville in lacrosse. The Dolphins hold a 4-0 series lead over the Lady Monarchs dating back to 2013 when the two teams first met.
On the flip side, ODU has defeated Stetson in all three encounters. The Lady Monarchs have outscored the Hatters 41-28 in the three games between the two squads.
Looking Forward…
The Lady Monarchs have a two-week break from competition before they hit the road for four consecutive games. ODU resumes action on April 7 at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.
